Dopp kit essentials: What to pack in your toiletry travel kit.

Travel can be an adventure.

It can also be a nightmare.

Things don’t always go according to plan and when you’re away from home, you notice a lot of the comforts you take for granted. You might miss your own shower or taking a deuce in your own toilet. Maybe you miss your own pillow.

Regardless, it’s always nice when you can bring a little bit of home with you, and that’s one of the reasons why you need a good dopp kit when traveling.

The Shed

What’s a dopp kit?

Just in case some dear readers aren’t familiar with the term, a dopp kit is a toiletry kit, or a travel bag for hygiene products. More specifically, it’s a toiletry kit that’s packed in a nice travel bag to promote a little bit of class and style.

Inside the kit is everything you need for hygiene and general self-care while you’re on the road.

It sounds nice, right?

But we haven’t told you what should be in the kit. That comes next. Worry not.

Here’s the essentials you need for a dopp kit.

First, you need a travel bag to hold it all. The Shed is our own swanky solution to that problem, and it comes in most of our fancy kits. It’s large, durable, easy to use, and designed for travel.

What goes in the kit is another matter. Every guy ends up customizing the dopp kit to his own preferences. We’re going to recommend a handful of common items and you can choose what makes sense for you.

For a quick answer, here’s the full list of recommendations to pack in your dopp kitt:

  • Body hair trimmer
  • Beard trimmer
  • Body wash
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Body spray
  • Deodorant
  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Floss
  • Nail clippers
  • Tweezers
  • Medications

We’ll break these down in more detail and mention some other ideas along the way, but that’s the basis of a solid checklist.

Your body trimmer

The Lawn Mower 4.0

What’s going to happen to your carefully sculpted body hair while you’re out of the house?

If that question raises a genuine concern for you, then just pack your trimmer. The Lawn Mower® 4.0 was designed to make travel easy. It even has a lock button that ensures it won’t accidentally turn on while it’s in your luggage.

It’s so versatile and easy to use that you can confidently control your body hair while you’re traveling (but maybe not while you’re literally in transit).

Beard management

You have a few choices when it comes to your beard. You can take a chance and let it grow. If you’re literally climbing a mountain, then this is the right choice. Not only does it reduce weight if you leave a trimmer behind while you climb, but it’s just appropriate. A man should come back from climbing mountains with a beard, right?

If your trip doesn’t fall in such a narrow range of purposes, then you might want something to keep the beard under control. You can pack a razor and shaving cream. Or you can take the easy route and grab a beard trimmer that’s designed with travel features.

Yes, we’re talking about The Beard Hedger™. It’s cordless. The battery lasts a long time. It’s easy to use. It’s also easy to pack. Take the free win.

Body wash

You take showers when you travel, right?

When you shower, you want a good soap. You might think that a traditional bar of soap is the easiest thing. It’s not. Once those bars get wet, they make a mess. You’ve seen it.

You might just want to use hotel soap or soap at your friend’s house or something like that. You can go that route, but it’s nice to stick with a known quantity. Besides, Ultra Premium™ Body Wash has great hydrating properties. It’s not just keeping you clean, it’s making sure you feel good while you’re away while living in your dopp kit.

Shampoo and conditioner

MANSCAPED shampoo + conditioner

It’s the same with washing your hair. Well, some of you reading this don’t wash because you’re doing the no-poo thing, but we’re not trying to draw attention to that now. It’s fine.

Seriously though, shampoo and conditioner are essential, but they take up a lot of space. One of the most efficient things you can do for your dopp kit is to find a good two-in-one formula.

We’ve already found it for you. We call it Ultra Premium™ 2-in-1 Shampoo + Conditioner. (An apt name, even if it’s not our most creative endeavor.) It’s a combo formula that cleans your hair and helps it stay healthy, and you only need to pack one manageable bottle.

Body spray

A hydrating body spray is nice for a couple of reasons. First, it helps you smell good, and when you’re packed into a crowded airport or bus stop, using body spray just makes you considerate.

The second, more important reason is found in the first word. It’s hydrating. That means you can take good care of your skin.

Maybe you’re traveling somewhere with hard water. Maybe you won’t be able to shower for a while. There are countless maybes and your body spray helps you cope with them all.

Deodorant

MANSCAPED deodorant

You’re on the road. Even if you’re just sitting in a car or an airplane, guys develop a funk after a while. Plus, once you reach your destination, you want the freedom to roam around without leaving a trail of stink behind you. There’s no need for that.

Pack your deodorant in the dopp kit. It’s easy.

While you’re at it, you can include deodorant for your balls and feet. Crop Preserver® and Foot Duster® are great travel companions, and if you have to wear the same pair of socks for an unreasonable stretch of time, then foot deodorant is worth its weight in gold.

Mouth care

So far, we’ve been listing the stuff that we make. Call it a bias. We kind of obsess over these things, so they’re on our minds.

But you want dental care in your dopp kit.

There are four essentials that will take care of your mouth on the road: your toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, and mouthwash. Many of these can be obtained from hotel front desks, often for free. Still, it’s easier to pack them from the start.

Thankfully, these fit well with the rest of your kit; dental care products don’t take up much space.

A few more extras

The last few things you want to consider in your dopp kit include lotion, sunblock, tweezers, nail clippers, and essential medications. Naturally, you can add anything else that you personally want in the kit, but that concludes the usual stuff. Enjoy your well-prepared travel, handsome.
